Adventurous, resourceful and funny are the first qualities you'll notice when you get to know 16 year old Alyssa. A leader among her friends, some of Alyssa's favorite things to do include being outdoors, listening to music and anything art related. Alyssa is always up for a challenge- like her recent trip to the North Idaho College high ropes course and zip-line, where she bravely tackled tree climbing and rope bridges for the first time!

You will rarely have to guess what is on Alyssa's mind, as she is an outspoken girl with strong opinions. A family who values these traits and sees them as a strength for young women will go far in helping Alyssa learn to use her strong personality in a manner that will allow her to get her needs met in positive ways. A caregiver who has the skillset to avoid power struggles would be an ideal match for Alyssa's personality. Alyssa has had to grow up much too quickly in many areas of her life. A family who can provide consistency and structure for her and also support her ability to participate in age appropriate activities that truly allow her to just enjoy being 16 years old would be a great fit. These qualities in an adoptive family will go a long way toward helping Alyssa heal from her past trauma and will assist her in building a strong and stable future.

Both Alyssa and her permanency team feel that the best fit for Alyssa in an adoptive family would be a single mom with an understanding of how childhood trauma and neglect can affect a child's physical, social, emotional and academic development and well-being. A parent who understands and supports the benefits of ongoing therapeutic services for Alyssa will be crucial to her success. Ideally, Alyssa would like to remain in the North Idaho area in order to preserve connections with her two siblings; however her team is open to inquiries from other areas as well.

Alyssa understands that even though she is approaching young adulthood, she will continue to need the love, care and support that the right adoptive family can provide her. Alyssa is sure to bring laughter, love and adventure to the right family; one that is ready to commit to her wholeheartedly and stay committed to her through her struggles as well as her successes. If you believe that you have what Alyssa is searching for in her Forever Family, please inquire about her today!
