To Our Community Partners,
The Idaho Department of Health & Welfare has been proud to partner with Eastern Washington University (EWU) and other community partners to recruit adoptive families for Idaho’s children in foster care. Since Idaho’s Wednesday’s Child began over 25 years ago, the landscape of adoption from foster care has changed yet there continues to be a need for child-specific recruitment for youth most in-need of a permanent home. Over the years the department has reorganized how permanency cases are managed to address this need and to achieve timely permanency for children who cannot return home. These changes include permanency workers “teaming” earlier with family services workers and the addition of a Family Find team to help identify previously unknown relatives and connections for our youth in care. Meanwhile, advances in technology and social media have resulted in increased risks related to public profiles causing Idaho and other states to consider the long-term impact to the youth featured.
The Idaho Department of Health & Welfare is in a position to innovate practices for child-specific recruitment while demonstrating fiscal responsibility. With this in mind, the contract for Wednesday’s Child, Waiting Families and intensive recruitment services is ending effective 09/30/2026. These services will be provided through Youth Safety & Permanency team members beginning October 1, 2026. During this transition, the current website for Idaho Wednesday’s Child will be unavailable while an updated website is created for both our waiting children and waiting families. Idaho will continue to use the AdoptUSKids website during the transition to ensure ongoing efforts to achieve permanency for waiting children.
Thank you for your continued support and advocacy on behalf of Idaho’s children.
Thank you,
Jean M. Fisher
Have you ever dreamed of building your family in a really BIG way? If so, these amazing kids may be just the right ones for you! Lynn is the oldest in this great group of siblings, and it shows in how much her cares for his younger sisters. Lynn is a kind, smart and really outgoing young man who loves to lend a helping hand to people in the neighborhood whenever possible. Lynn likes to stay active with things like playing basketball and soccer; riding his skateboard; and building things. He enjoys the snow in the wintertime and is in a ski club. This well-rounded guy isn’t just about the sports, he also really loves art; singing and participating in choir; trying his hand at crafting new things and hanging out with the most important people in his life, his sisters.
Amanda is next in line and has that go-getter attitude that many middle kids do! She too loves staying active, with her current favorite passions being swimming; hiking; playing volleyball, tennis and soccer; running cross-country and 5K or 10K races; and participating in gymnastics, ballet and cheer. She’s working super hard to perfect her front handspring right now! Amanda is sweetly protective of her little sister and has a great relationship with her big brother. She likes to eat ice cream; draw cartoon characters; read; and have family nights watching movies or playing board games together. Amanda loves all animals and aspires to someday go to college to study Marine Biology.
Rosalee, or Rosie as she prefers to be called, is the youngest child in this sibling group. Much like her older sister, she loves running; hiking; swimming; rollerblading and bike riding; volleyball; soccer; cheer; tumbling and ballet. Rosie enjoys drawing flowers and other stuff from nature, so she always tries to find new things to draw later when she’s hiking. Rosie can often be found singing or listening to music and she loves to snuggle in on a family night and watch her favorite old-school movies like Honey I Shrunk the Kids and Jumanji. Rosie enjoys going to church and is hoping to continue that with her new family. When it comes to her future, Rosie sees her path in life as going to college to study science and then probably becoming a vet tech, so that she can save all of the animals! Though she’s an outgoing girl, Rosie can sometimes need a little extra love and reassurance in order to feel safe and learn to trust people.
Lynn, Amanda and Rosie, along with their Permanency Team, are searching for an active family, preferable in the South/Eastern part of Idaho. All 3 of these siblings agree that they want both a mom and a dad and would prefer that there are no other kids in the home if possible, however their team is interested in hearing from any family who feels they might be the right fit. A house full of fun, love, and individual time and attention with each of the kids will help them continue to grow and thrive. Parents who communicate well and solve problems calmly; who have structure in their home and the time and energy to keep these siblings very active in both their school and in their community activities, will be a wonderful match for them! These siblings are incredibly smart, kind and resilient kids who are sure to have a very bright future, all they need now is the missing piece-their Forever Family! If Lynn, Amanda and Rosalee sound like a wonderful fit for your family, we urge you to inquire today to learn more!
The Idaho Wednesday's Child Program prioritizes the safety and security of children, above all else. In an effort to protect the safety of the youth we serve, our process requires families to possess a current, approved adoption home study. Only families with a current home study can view youth's full profiles with videos and photos and submit inquiries, on the Secure Gallery Page.
